GM commits to ACDelco brand

GM has announced it is to retain the ACDelco independent aftermarket business and declared its intention to continue operating and supporting it moving forward. The news comes in the wake of the ACDelco operation having been put under strategic review last October as part of GM’s asset sales strategy.

'Fantastic' response to Lucas says Manbat

Manbat has reported a 'fantastic' response from the aftermarket to its control of the Lucas battery brand.

Manbat was awarded the distribution contract following a tender invitation in the New Year and it became the only source of supply for the Lucas brand on 1st March. The agreement includes all Lucas automotive and commercial vehicle batteries for the UK and Eire. Read More..

Vehicle Scrappage Scheme

Motorists are being offered £2,000 towards a new car or van if they trade in their 10-year-old, or older, vehicle for scrap under plans unveiled by the Government in last week's Budget.

The UK scheme, with £300m from Government and matched funding from industry, is intended to provide immediate support on a short-term basis to boost the car industry and its supply chain in the wake of falling sales.

A statement from the department for business, enterprise and regulatory reform (BERR) said: "It will also get older vehicles off the road and encourage consumers to invest in new, safer, and potentially more environmentally friendly models. Read More..

Trailer market has collapsed, says Cargobull

 From the SMMT transport news brief: Europe's leading trailer maker, Schmitz Cargobull says the European trailer market has collapsed.
